In this guide, we’ve rounded up the most beautiful and aesthetic places in Bali - a mix of iconic must-sees and lesser-known spots you won’t want to miss.

10 top tourist attractions in Bali.

1. Pura Luhur Uluwatu

Perched dramatically on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of Bali’s most iconic temples. It’s not just a spiritual site, but one of the most breathtaking viewpoints on the island, especially at sunset when the sky lights up behind the temple.

One of the highlights here is the traditional Kecak fire dance, performed each evening with the ocean as a backdrop. It’s a unique cultural experience and well worth timing your visit around. Just be aware of the monkeys around the temple - they’re known for being a little mischievous with loose belongings.

Make sure you have booked your ticket in advance as shows do sell out. You can secure your ticket alongside transport from hotel and an English speaking guide here.

2. Goa Gajah Gianyar

Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave, is one of Bali’s most fascinating historical sites, located just outside Ubud. Dating back to the 9th century, it was originally used as a place for meditation and spiritual retreat.

The entrance to the cave is carved into rock, featuring a striking face that looks as though you’re stepping into its mouth. Inside, the space is small and atmospheric, while outside you’ll find peaceful courtyards, ancient stone carvings, and bathing pools surrounded by jungle. It’s a quick but worthwhile stop if you’re exploring the Ubud area.

It definitely feels like it could be a level on Crash Bandicoot or a movie set for Indiana Jones!

3. Nusa Penida

If you’re looking for some of the most dramatic scenery in Bali, Nusa Penida delivers. Just a short boat ride from the mainland, this rugged island is known for its towering cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and iconic viewpoints like Kelingking Beach.

It’s easily one of the most photogenic places in Indonesia, with landscapes that feel almost unreal. While it’s become more popular in recent years, it still feels more raw and less developed than mainland Bali. Whether you visit on a day trip or stay overnight, it’s a must for anyone chasing those truly unforgettable, “wow” moments.

4. Garuda Wisnu

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is one of the most impressive landmarks in Bali, home to the विशाल statue of Vishnu riding the mythical bird Garuda. Standing at over 120 metres tall, it’s one of the tallest statues in the world and genuinely hard to miss.

Beyond the statue itself, the park hosts regular cultural performances, exhibitions, and events that give you a deeper insight into Balinese heritage. It’s a good option if you’re looking to combine culture with something visually striking, although it feels more like a curated attraction than a natural Bali experience.

5. Tegallaland Rice Terraces

The Tegallalang Rice Terraces are one of the most iconic landscapes in Bali, and for good reason. Layers of vibrant green rice fields cascade down the hillside, creating one of the most photogenic scenes on the island. We visited with a driver and spent close to two hours learning about the processes and enjoying different vantage points along the way. You can also use the overhead cables to biplane from one side to the other.

It’s especially beautiful early in the morning before the crowds arrive, when the light hits the terraces and everything feels calm and untouched. You’ll also find jungle swings and viewpoints dotted throughout, making it a must-visit for those classic Bali shots.

6. Tegenungan Waterfall

Tegenungan Waterfall is one of the most accessible and impressive waterfalls in Bali, located just a short drive from Ubud. Surrounded by lush jungle, the powerful cascade drops into a pool below where you can swim and cool off.

It’s a popular spot, but if you visit early or later in the day, it still feels special. The combination of jungle scenery and dramatic water flow makes it one of the best waterfall experiences on the island.

7. Lempuyang Temple (Gates of Heaven)

Lempuyang Temple, famously known as the “Gates of Heaven,” is one of the most iconic photo spots in Bali. The split gate perfectly frames Mount Agung in the background, creating a surreal reflection shot that has taken over Instagram and Pinterest.

While it can get busy, the experience is worth it for the views alone. Visit early in the morning for clearer skies and a more peaceful atmosphere.

8. Diamond Beach (Nusa Penida)

Diamond Beach is one of the most breathtaking coastal spots in Bali, located on the island of Nusa Penida. Known for its dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, and powdery white sand, it feels like a hidden paradise.

The walk down is steep but incredibly rewarding, with stunning viewpoints along the way. It’s one of those places that genuinely feels untouched.

9. Banyumala Twin Waterfalls

Banyumala Twin Waterfalls are one of Bali’s most beautiful hidden gems, tucked away in the northern jungle. Unlike some of the busier waterfalls, this spot feels शांत and unspoiled, with two streams cascading into a clear natural pool.

It’s perfect for a refreshing swim and a quieter escape into nature, surrounded by lush greenery.

10. Tirta Gangga

Tirta Gangga is a former royal water palace known for its elegant gardens, fountains, and iconic stepping stones that sit above koi-filled pools. It’s one of the most photogenic spots in Bali, blending culture, history, and beauty.

Take your time wandering through the gardens and capturing the unique perspectives - it’s easily one of the island’s most memorable locations.

11. Koral Restaurant at the Apurva Kempinski

Koral Restaurant at The Apurva Kempinski offers one of the most unique dining experiences in Bali. With its iconic underwater-style tunnel seating, you can enjoy a fine dining tasting menu surrounded by a stunning aquarium setting.

From our own experience, this was one of the most memorable meals of our trip. If you’re planning a special occasion or simply want something unforgettable, this is a must. Be sure to pre-book a tunnel table well in advance, as availability is extremely limited and follow this link to read our guide on the impressive beachfront resort.

12. Tibumana Waterfall

Tibumana Waterfall is one of the most picturesque waterfalls near Ubud, known for its perfectly symmetrical cascade flowing into a calm natural pool. Surrounded by lush jungle, it feels peaceful and less crowded than many of Bali’s more famous falls.

You can take a refreshing swim here or simply enjoy the tranquil setting. It’s an easy addition to any Ubud itinerary and one we personally found far more relaxing than expected.

13. Tirta Empul (Pura Tirta Empul)

Tirta Empul is one of Bali’s most important temples, famous for its sacred water purification rituals. Located just outside Ubud, it offers a truly immersive cultural experience where visitors can take part in traditional cleansing ceremonies.

The temple’s bathing pools, flowing fountains, and koi-filled waters create a unique and deeply spiritual atmosphere. It’s one of the best places on the island to experience authentic Balinese culture.

14. Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is one of Bali’s most iconic and photogenic waterfalls, known for its unique rock formations that create a cascading, tiered effect.

It’s a popular spot for photos, especially if you’re looking for that classic Bali waterfall shot sitting beneath the flowing water. We’d highly recommend arriving early in the morning to beat the crowds and get the best experience.

15. Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati

Saraswati Temple, located in the heart of Ubud, is a beautifully designed water palace dedicated to the goddess of knowledge and arts. Its lotus-filled ponds and intricate carvings make it one of the most photogenic spots in the town centre.

If you visit in the evening, the temple comes alive with traditional dance performances set against a beautifully lit backdrop, adding an extra layer to the experience.

16. The Kayon Jungle Resort Infinity Pools

The Kayon Jungle Resort is home to one of the most breathtaking infinity pool setups in Bali. Its tiered design overlooks a lush jungle valley, creating a view that genuinely feels unreal.

This was easily one of our favourite stays ever, and the experience goes far beyond just the pool. While day passes are sometimes available, we’d strongly recommend staying here if your budget allows - it’s something special.

Read our guide on The Kayon Jungle Resort here for more information on why this was the most special stay of our lives!

17. Campuhan Ridge Walk

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is one of Ubud’s most peaceful and underrated experiences, offering a scenic escape away from the busy town centre. This gentle walking trail winds through rolling green hills, palm trees, and open valleys, delivering panoramic views that feel a world away from the crowds.

It’s especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset, when the light softens and the landscape really comes to life. We loved this as a slower, more relaxed activity - perfect for couples looking to take in Bali’s natural beauty without the chaos of the more popular spots. It’s simple, free, and one of those places that just feels good to be in.

Final Thought:

Bali is one of those places that somehow exceeds expectations, no matter how much you’ve already seen online. From iconic temples and jungle waterfalls to luxury resorts and hidden viewpoints, there’s a depth to the island that makes every day feel completely different from the last.

If you’re planning your trip, the key is balance. Mix the must-see attractions with slower, more meaningful experiences - whether that’s a quiet morning on the Campuhan Ridge Walk or an unforgettable stay overlooking the jungle. That’s where Bali really comes to life.

If you haven’t booked your trip yet, it’s worth checking flight prices early to get the best deal and start shaping your itinerary around what you want to experience most.
