Everything about it feels designed for those moments. The setting, the service, the private pool villas… it all just works.

We stayed in a Valley Pool Villa and waking up to that jungle view, with steam rising from the pool and birds echoing through the valley, is something we’ll never forget.

2. Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan — Ultra-Luxury in Nature

Four Seasons Sayan feels completely different to most resorts in Ubud — and that’s what makes it stand out.

Instead of sitting above the jungle like many of the villas in the area, the resort is built down into the valley itself, surrounded by rice fields and the Ayung River. You actually descend into the property via a walkway that cuts through the trees, which sets the tone straight away.

It feels quieter, more grounded, and far more connected to the landscape than a typical luxury resort.

This is one we’ve seriously considered for a future trip, mainly because it offers something different to places like Kayon. Where Kayon is more about that dramatic jungle view and private villa experience, Four Seasons feels more about space, calm, and complete privacy.

The villas here are large, well-spaced, and designed to blend into the environment rather than dominate it. It’s not overly flashy, but everything is done to an incredibly high standard, exactly what you’d expect from Four Seasons.

If your idea of a perfect stay in Ubud is switching off completely, slowing down, and being surrounded by nature, this is one of the best options on the island.

4. COMO Uma Ubud — Best Boutique Resort Near Town

If you like the idea of staying in Ubud but don’t want to feel completely cut off in the jungle, COMO Uma Ubud is a really strong option.

A lot of the higher-end resorts in Ubud are set 20–30 minutes outside of town, which is great for privacy, but not always ideal if you actually want to explore. COMO Uma strikes a much better balance.

It’s close enough to central Ubud that you can get in and out easily, whether that’s for restaurants, cafés, or day trips, but still tucked away enough to feel calm and relaxed when you’re back at the hotel.

This is probably the option we’d go for if we were doing a more activity-focused trip, where we knew we’d be out most days rather than staying within the resort.

The design leans more towards understated luxury rather than over-the-top villas. It doesn’t try to compete with places like Kayon or Capella in terms of dramatic jungle settings, but that’s not really the point here.

Instead it’s about a clean, boutique feel, a great location, and consistently high-quality service.

5. Padma Resort Ubud — Best for Space & Facilities

Located just outside central Ubud, Padma Resort Ubud offers a quieter, more spacious alternative to the jungle stays closer to town. Set within a valley surrounded by dense forest, it feels properly secluded without being completely remote.

The standout feature here is the infinity pool. Stretching along the edge of the valley with uninterrupted jungle views, it’s one of the most impressive in Ubud and a big part of what draws people to the resort.

Rooms are modern, spacious, and designed to make the most of the setting, with large balconies overlooking the surrounding greenery. Compared to smaller boutique resorts, Padma leans more toward a full-service resort experience — which shows in the facilities.

The main trade-off is location. You’re around 20–30 minutes from central Ubud, so getting around requires a bit more planning, although the resort does offer a shuttle service.

6. Beehouse Dijiwa — Best Budget Stay (and Perfect Hybrid Option)

This was one of our favourite stays in Ubud — and easily one of the best value places we’ve found.

We actually stayed here after Kayon, and looking back, it was the perfect way to experience Ubud.

This is where a hybrid approach really works.

You can spend a few nights somewhere more premium like Kayon, then move somewhere like Beehouse to properly explore the area without burning through your budget.

Beehouse is much more central, which makes it ideal for getting in and out of Ubud. The free transfers into the town centre made a big difference for us, especially with how unpredictable traffic can be.

The villas themselves are simple but really well done. You still get your own private space, and the infinity pool overlooking the rice terraces is one of those views that feels far more premium than the price suggests.

Breakfast was another highlight — fresh, generous, and easily one of the better ones we had in Bali.

It’s not trying to compete with five-star jungle resorts, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s a more relaxed, practical base — and if you pair it with a luxury stay, it’s probably the smartest way to do Ubud.
