Winter is a great time to get away and forget about your routine. Places are less crowded, and the snowy landscapes are stunning! To escape the cold, you can also choose to relax at a beach location. No matter what location you choose, you will find the perfect US winter destination.
Savannah is known as a great place to eat! For a warm winter meal, stop by Six Pence Pub or Crystal Beer Parlor. Leopold’s Ice Cream is the place to go for dessert. Their line runs down the block even though it’s cold outside. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist attracts people all year, but their stunning nativity scene is especially impressive during Christmas.
One of Savannah’s most loved holiday events is the Holiday Tour of Homes. You’ll find some of Savannah’s most beautiful homes dressed up in seasonal attire.
January is the “off season”, so it’s a great time to search for travel deals. To welcome the warmer weather, the giant pink blossoms of the tulip tree begin to grow in February. If it is too cold to walk the Historic District on a sunny day, you can head to E. Shaver Bookseller to curl up with a cup of tea and a book from their local authors.
2. Leavenworth, WA:
Leavenworth in Washington is a small Bavarian-themed community nestled in Washington’s Cascade Mountains. Leavenworth is stunning in winter and best place to visit in December in UA! This town is full of holiday cheer, with carolers walking the streets and chestnut roasting. You can still enjoy the warmth of winter in Leavenworth, even if you are unable to visit during the holiday season. Grab a cup of mulled and enjoy the view from the Cascade Mountains, while you sit by a warm fire.
3. New York, USA:
New York is stunning all year, but it shines brighter in winter when the days are shorter and the city’s lights are more visible. This is especially true during December when New York gets festive. But, New York City is at its best when it’s covered in snow. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy and entertained if you travel to Christmas during the winter months (end November to March inclusive).
If you are in town, be sure to attend Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade. It has been going on since 1924, almost 100 years ago! It screams New York! The parade starts at 77th Street and Central Park West at 9:00 am and continues to Central Park and Columbus Circle. It then turns onto 7th Avenue to reach the store. You should also try Thanksgiving dinner if you get the chance. There are many restaurants that will offer this dish. Market Table in the Village is a great choice.
You can’t miss the Rockfeller Center Christmas tree and ice rink if you visit during Christmas. New Year’s Eve in Times Square is another must-see. You should also take in the amazing views in this city of skyscrapers. Brooklyn Heights Promenade offers some of Manhattan’s most spectacular views.
4. Jackson Hole, Winter
Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is a great winter destination for adventure-lovers. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is often referred to as the hardest ski resort in America. It is well-known for its extreme snowboarding and skiing runs. You will find steep slopes and rugged terrain along with dangerous drop-offs. There are plenty of activities for kids to enjoy on and off the slopes. Ski school at Jackson Hole is a top-notch facility that caters to every individual’s unique skill level.
Jackson Hole offers many other entertainment options, besides the slopes. For stunning, panoramic views of Teton Mountain Range and the Continental Divide, go snowmobiling. Jackson Hole offers a tranquil escape in the mountains, with some of the best views anywhere in the United States. Jackson, Wyoming, a Wild West town, has many local shops, restaurants, and breweries that will keep visitors busy.
5. Vail, Colorado
Every year, winter excites me because I love to visit snowy, fun winter destinations. Vail, Colorado is one of my favorite places to visit during wintertime. Vail, Colorado is a popular destination for winter travel. It offers the ideal snow-lovers experience.
Skiing is Vail’s most popular past-time winter activity. There are plenty of ski slopes, from the bunnies and black diamond runs. There are many other things you can do in Vail, even if you’re not a skier. These activities are highly recommended and include dog-sledding with learning to mush and snowmobiling to 12,500 feet to capture stunning views of the Continental Divide and four mountain ranges.
For the ultimate winter experience, you can also stay in a ski resort that is ski-in and ski-out. Enjoy s’mores by the firepit, making snowmen, or dinner at Zach’s Cabin, where you’ll arrive and depart via open-air sleigh rides. This will make your winter vacation unforgettable!
